Are you in the same old place? Are you looking to have a break out year? Looking to take charge of your life? Many people start off their Networking business with great hopes but no idea what it takes to make it successful. One must understand this simple but hard truth. We are where we are in life due to the way we think and the actions we take. If you are not in the place you want to be then we MUST change our thinking and actions. If you always do what you have always done you will always have what you had (author unknown). Learning to master these 7 critical areas will help you avoid the pitfalls that derail most people.
1. Life Vision / Purpose
All successful people have an absolute clear vision for their life. An overriding purpose, a destiny or passion that drives them. Without a "purpose" or a "why" your action plans and goals will not bring you the joy you seek. Do you want to spend lots of energy and time to reach a goal to find out that you climbed the wrong building? You want your life's work to be your life's joy- right? Look at it this way, without a purpose, life is like playing darts with a blind fold on. Pretty hard to hit the target if you don't know what your shooting for. You were put on this earth with a purpose to fulfill, find it and you will find joy, passion, drive, enthusiasm and energy. So what makes your heart sing? What is it that you can really get so absorbed in that time seems to melt away? Something, no matter how tired you are, you always seem to have energy for? What are you good at?
Start by spending some quiet time examining the things you love to do. Write down 2-3 qualities that are unique to you personally (for example you may be very supportive or enthusiastic). Now write down as many ways you can think of that you enjoy expressing these qualities. Maybe you enjoy uplifting, supporting, and encouraging
people; or maybe you enjoy bring smiles to people's faces by being fun, outgoing, and a joy to be around. Now write a a vision statement combining these statements together, and write it in the present tense. Here is my purpose statement "My purpose is to support, uplift, and mentor people. To assist others in breaking free of the burdens in life that hold them back, and help them affect others in the same way. To live my life in such a way that the purpose of my life far outlives my life. Simply to make the world a better place." I read this every morning to start my day, and review it every night to see if I achieved it.
2. Hot Buttons / Motivation
This is like phase 1 but not the same. This is not your life's vision, these are things like your dreams, desires, and ultimate lifestyle. What are they and why are they important to you? These are some of the goodies, some of the material stuff. All successful people know what turns them on, and they know how to reward themselves for their efforts. Things like homes, cars, boats, places to travel, or things to do. One of my biggest driving forces is my son. I wanted so bad to be home on a full time basis raising him, teaching him, and playing with him. I also wanted control of my life, I wanted to make my own calls, do the things I wanted to do, when I wanted to do them. I hated with a passion to punch a time card, it tore me up inside. So write down at least 5 things that will add fuel to the fire; things that will drive you when you hit that bump in the road. These can be positive goodies, or negative things you want to avoid. Best to have a combination of both, and next to each one, write down the reason why. For the final step began to cut out pictures of the things you want to put them up everywhere! The walls of my office are covered with pictures, sayings, and reminders. Create a big why, so big that nothing will stand in your way. Review this EVERY single day, best in the morning to set up your day for success! Twice a day is even better.
